With the news of AOL shutting down Nullsoft, the company that produces Winamp (a popular music player) and Shoutcast DNAS (the server that allows us to stream to all of you) many people wonder what will become of RadioPoverty and stations like it.
In a nutshell, nothing. Absolutley nothing. Not much to see here folks, move along.
All it really means is that you most likely won't ever see any new features added to the platforms, but the software will continue to run just as it does today.Although you won't be able to download Winamp from winamp.com, there will be a million other places to download the last available versions. In fact, after the December 20th drop dead date, we will make it available for download from RadioPoverty.net.
Independant radio stations like ours will continue to gain new listeners every day. That is something that AOL can't even screw up.
In fact, news has come out today that Microsoft is in talks with AOL to purchase the software to keep it from dying a slow death.
So tune In, grap a cuppa coffee and enjoy. We aren't going anywhere. And that you can take to the bank.
Rock On, Core
